Zone six has missed out on the finals of the Senior Inter-Zone Sides Championship at Lorn Park and Maitland City bowling clubs yesterday after two consecutive losses.
The Hunter/Manning zone fell 54-51 against zone 16 in the morning and then dropped the bundle to go down 64-59 against zone 13 in the afternoon.
Zone one, who zone six beat on the first day of the competition, won the section with a win late yesterday.
They’ll play zone two in the final.
Zone six manager Rod Robards from Maitland City told the Mercury the afternoon loss was especially disappointing after his team was up 15 shots at one stage.
“It was very close,” he said.
“All four teams in our section went into their last games all with one win.
“It is a little bit disappointing because we fell in a hole.
“We didn’t do too badly but the competition played well and you can’t prevent them playing well.”
The championships wrap up at Maitland City Bowls, Sports and Recreation Club today.
